Abstract
The long-term goal is to predict the consequences of environmental stress on estuarine biota. The homeostatic responses of fatty acids and free amino acids are sensitive indicators of environmental changes. Stress may take the form of seasonal temperature variation in the annual cycle of plankton production, or stress may result from artificial complications such as pollution.
