Abstract
The decision document presents the selected interim remedial action for Operable Unit One at the Universal Oil Products (UOP) site, in the Borough of East Rutherford, Bergen County. The response action described in the document represents an interim remedy for the first of three planned operable units at the site. Operable Unit One consists of the uplands soils and leachate at the site. The selected interim action will address the threats due to contaminated soils and contaminated leachate, designated as Operable Unit One. It addresses the principle threats through treatment of the most highly contaminated materials and the lower level threats through containment. Since a portion of the selected remedy calls for the containment of contaminated soils, the remedial action for Operable Unit One will require long-term management.
