| Abstract |
The 3.5-acre Benfield Industries site is a former bulk chemical mixing and repackaging plant in Hazelwood, Haywood County, North Carolina. Products handled and stored at the facility by Benfield Industries included paint thinners; solvents; sealants; cleaners; de-icing solutions; and wood preservers, including cresote. The ROD addresses the remediation of contaminated soil and ground water. The primary contaminants of concern affecting the soil and ground water are VOCs, including benzene; other organics including PAHs; and metals, including arsenic and lead. |
