The three navigation waterways in Bellingham Bay (Whatcom, I & J, and Squalicum) require periodic dredging to maintain authorized depths.... Webber (1977) documented existing biological studies in Bellingham Bay and reported the impact of previous dredging... This report describes the results of studies on the water quality and biological components of the waterways, potential disposal areas, and a control area. Studies were conducted from May 1977 to April 1978. Water quality parameters studied included temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, total suspended solids, turbidity, pH, total pulphide and mercury. Biological studies included surveys of the invertebrate macro fauna of intertidal and subtidal areas (organisms larger than 1.0mm) and bottom fish. - p. 1.
