Abstract |
This is the eigth partial completion report of an undetermined number of stations to be studied. Domestic as well as industrial wastes have been discharged for many years along the coastal waters of Puerto Rico without adequate treatment in a few instances and certainly with no treatment at all in most cases. The lack of reliable coastal currents information has inevitably resulted in heavily polluted bays. A better understanding of the hydraulics of these bodies of water was, and is, therefore, urgently needed. This project, limits itself to the collection of essential data in bays and estuaries around the island on a continuous basis and occasionally from specific locations under private or government contracts. |
