The Hazardous Waste Facilities Siting Board, in carrying out its duty of assessing the treatment and disposal needs of the State, has relied on various sources of information. The objectives of this work and the corresponding results were as follows: To test the feasibility and effectiveness of in-plant measures to reduce industrial and hazardous waste generation in a limited number of actual situations. Result -- In each plant, measures to reduce waste generation, water use, and management cost were identified; To provide assistance to the plants studied. Result -- All three plants adopted some of the recommended measures; To provide background that would lead to incentive or assistance programs.
