Abstract
The report documents the theory, design and operation of continuous on-line instrumentation currently in use by the County Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County California and further describes computer applications which provide daily operational calculations. Instrumentation sections include Water Level Control of Influent Pumping, Density Control of Primary Sludge Pumping, and Process Air, Return Sludge and Waste Sludge Control in Activated Sludge Plants. Theory, design, operation and maintenance characteristics, maintenance requirements, and results are presented for each system. A computer application system is described which provides daily operational parameters to the operators and prepares monthly summary of operations reports.
