Abstract |
This report describes efforts to classify cities observing ozone levels greater than 0.12 ppm into distinct subgroups. Cluster analysis, using such factors mixing height, wind speed, temperature, NMOC/NOx ratio and type of precursor sources, is used to identify subgroups of cities. Identification of a limited number of such subgroups could provide a means for more convincingly demonstrating the general applicability of complex photochemical models by conducting validation exercises in cities representative of each subgroup. The report indicates that the technique shows promise but, nevertheless, requires some further refinement before it can be used to identify most appropriate subgroups. |
