The report describes research concerned with determining the economic effects of air pollution on materials. The research results constitute an important first step in providing economic justification for setting air pollution control standards and for implementing control regulations. The first three chapters of the report describe the methodology and approach used in conducting the research. The next three chapters present data on air pollutants and economically important materials. The following three chapters are concerned primarily with analysis of the data. The final chapter offers conclusions drawn as a result of the over-all research program, and identifies areas where further action is warranted. (Author)
