Abstract
To assess the formation of atmospheric oxidants resulting from exhaust emitted by catalyst-equipped vehicles, chamber irradiations were conducted using a hydrocarbon blend representing total hydrocarbon emissions (exhaust, refueling and evaporation). Results were compared with previous irradiation results using a hydrocarbon blend representing non-methane, non-acetylene exhaust emissions from non-catalyst vehicles or catalyst-equipped vehicles. The blend representing total hydrocarbon emissions produced significantly less oxidants than either of the other two blends.
