Abstract
New ozone monitoring sites are required by the CAAA to enhance the existing ambient air monitoring network currently composed of State and Local Air Monitoring Stations (SLAMS), the National Air Monitoring Stations (NAMS), and Special Purpose Monitors (SPM) stations. These enhanced monitoring sites, called photochemical assessment monitoring stations (PAMS), will measure ozone, VOC (including aldehydes), and NOx concentrations, and meteorological parameters. As the PAMS will become part of the SLAMS network, they will be subject to specific siting, quality assurance, analytical methodology, sampling interval, and instrument requirements. The guidance document provides a description of the PAMS sites, and the requirements for siting and configuring the sites.
