Abstract
The Missouri Basin Region, FWQA requested assistance for the analysis of a number of fish samples taken from the Nishnabotna River in Missouri. Heptachlor, aldrin, heptachlor epoxide, gamma chlordane, dieldrin, and DDT and its metabolites DDE and DDD were identified in samples of muscle tissue and viscera from several species of fish taken from the Nishnabotna River. While dieldrin was the most abundant chlorinated insecticide in almost all of the samples, it did not appear at abnormally high levels, and usually occurred in amounts three to four times greater than the other insecticides.
