Abstract |
Metabolites of arachidonic acid (eicosanoids) and platelet activating factor are important bioactive lipids that may be involved in the pathobiological alterations in animals induced by pollutant exposure. Analysis of these substances in biological tissue and fluids is important for determining their role in these processes. The manuscript describes and reviews some of the analytical techniques available for quantitation of these lipids. The described assays include use of high performance lipid chromatography, thin layer chromatography, radioimmunoassay, and enzyme-linked immunoassay. |
