Abstract
The report discusses the technical problems associated with the measurement and detection of microwaves for hazard protection and describes some of the instrumentation which is being used and developed for that purpose. The problems of measurement in the near field and the interpretation of near-field measurements are reviewed, and instrument design parameters necessary for unambiguous measurements are presented. Emphasis is placed upon the antenna size, direction, and polarization sensitivity. A brief discussion of types of detectors and the response of various instruments is included. (Author)
