Abstract
The quality of indoor air and the resulting health risk associated with some potential exposure to volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from indoor air have become major concerns to building occupants, especially office workers. To effectively address these concerns, indoor air monitoring programs are needed which can produce data of known quality. The gas chromatography/mass spectrometry (GC/MS) method was developed to provide support for the U.S. EPA/ERT indoor air quality program. The GC/MS method was designed to identify and quantify 45 target VOCs (i.e., aliphatic, aromatic, and chlorinated hydrocarbons) as well as identify non-target VOCs related to indoor air environments.
