Abstract
The cysts of five geographical strains of Artemia were hatched and the newly hatched nauplii were acid hydrolyzed and analyzed for their amino acid content. Strains from Australia, Brazil, Italy, and Utah were similar in amino acid content, whereas the San Pablo Bay, California strain exhibited several values different from the other four strains. Essential amino acid levels for all five strains of Artemia were considered adequate in terms of the dietary requirement levels for Chinook salmon and levels that appear to be adequate for Atlantic silversides.
