Abstract
The 1975 conference was sponsored by the Virginia Water Resources Research Center in cooperation with the U.S. Office of Water Research and Technology, EPA Regions III and IV, and Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. The purposes included are the transfer of research findings and methodologies to user groups, and researcher-user discussion of knowledge gaps and research needs. This includes 21 major papers, extensively footnoted and with numerous figures and tables. Five papers provide an overview and state-of-the-arts review. Thirteen papers give specific reports on research, case studies, and examples in the four principal source areas from which water pollution originates: (1) agricultural and rural; (2) forestry; (3) urban and construction, and (4) mining and mineral extraction.
