Abstract |
The 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act Amendments require EPA to compile a list of compliance and/or variance technologies that small drinking water systems can use to comply with pre-1996 National Primary Drinking Water Regulations (NPDWRs). Variance technologies can be used in place of compliance technologies if they prove too costly to meet these requirements. This document compiled by the Treatment Technology Team, examines 80 drinking water contaminants for possible inclusion in a variance technology list. The report concludes that every contaminant studied can be treated using an existing compliance technology and, hence, no variance technologies list will be issued at this time. |
