| Abstract |
Aerosol observations have been obtained along seven trade routes. These observations have been performed by watch officers of merchant ships with the cooperation of the several shipping lines. The objective of this research program is to obtain the distribution of aerosol concentrations over the seas. This distribution will then be used to estimate the relative strengths of several continental areas as aerosol sources, and the strength of several meteorological regimes as aerosol sinks. |
