Abstract
The particle size distribution and concentration of an aerosol are influenced by coagulation, sedimentation, the rate of generation of particles, particle characteristics and the dynamics of the fluid in which the particles are suspended. The air pollution specialist is interested in the description of particle concentration and size distribution and in how they are interdependent on the physical and chemical processes occurring in the urban atmosphere. The research reported here provides information leading to an improved description of and understanding of the aerosol in the polluted atmosphere.
