Abstract
A Superfund Innovative Technology Evaluation (SITE) Demonstration was conducted to determine if waste incineration is a potential application for the pulse combustion burner technology developed by Sonotech, Inc., of Atlanta, Georgia. Waste feed consisted of coal-tar and contaminated soil from two manufactured gas plants (MGPs) and coal. Testing was planned to compare the conventional rotary kiln incineration system (RKS) at EPA's Incineration Research Facility (IRF) with the retrofitted Sonotech unit. The paper provides information on the technology description and planned testing procedures.
