Abstract
The purpose of the report is to serve as a guide for the measurement of fugitive dust. To that end, the methods of measuring fugitive particulate emissions are reviewed. The methods included are the quasi-stack method, the roof monitor method, the upwind-downwind method, the exposure profiling method, the portable wind tunnel method, the scale model wind tunnel method, the tracer method and the balloon method. Each measurement method is explained, along with its advantages and disadvantages. Sources of error are discussed, as are sampling protocols. The literature on each method is reviewed. A section of the report is devoted to the issues of error, accuracy and precision of the methods.
