Abstract
The report gives results of a survey of available flue gas conditioning agents and user experience. Many existing chemicals have been used as conditioning agents in power plants or have been studied in the laboratory as potential agents. The particle collection efficiency of an electrostatic precipitator (ESP) for coal-fired power plant flue gas cleaning depends on the electrical properties of the fly ash, among other things. Flue gas conditioning refers to the addition of chemicals to the flue gas for modification of fly ash properties and/or electrical conditions in the ESP to improve the collection efficiency of ESPs. Conditioning is usually used to upgrade existing ESPs.
