Previous histomorphometric studies led to the hypothesis that suppression of hepatocellular regeneration and the repair of the hepatolobular architecture was involved in the progessive and irreversible phase of the chlordecone (CD) potentiated CCl4 toxicity. Based on this concept, the authors have recently shown significant protection in animals stimulated for active hepatocellular regeneration. The present work is an extension of the authors earlier histomorphometric investigation, wherein (3)H-thymidine ((3)H-T) incorporation was measured as a biochemical parameter of hepatocellular regeneration and autoradiographic analysis of liver sections was done, on male rats treated for 15 days with normal diet or a diet containing 10 ppm CD.
