Abstract
The paper discusses usinglife-cycle assessment principles to evaluate upstream and downstream environmental impacts to evaluate alternative municipal solid waste (MSW) management options. This research will provide the MSW decision-maker with more complete information on the environmental and economic impacts of MSW management alternatives. A major goal of this research will be the development of a LCI. The paper provides an overview of this research and the schedule of outputs, and discusses potential applications.
