| Abstract |
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Office of Air Quality Planning and Standards (OAQPS) Emission Standards Division (ESD) is investigating the lime manufacturing industry to identify and quantify hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) emitted from lime kilns. ESD requested that EPA OAQPS Emissions, Monitoring and Analysis Division (EMAD) conduct the required testing. EMAD issued a work assignment to Pacific Environmental Services, Inc. (PES) to conduct a screening test to collect air emissions data as specified in the ESD test request. The primary objective was to characterize the controlled emissions of selected HAPs from a rotary kiln located at Huron Lime Company's Huron, Ohio facility. The screening tests were conducted to quantify emission rates of total hydrocarbons (THC), and polychlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and polychlorinated dibenzofurans (PCDDs/PCDFs) at the Kiln No. 3 stack. |
