The scientific objectives of the U.S. Global Change Research Program (GCRP), are to monitor, understand, and ultimately predict global change. Research reported in this assessment of marine environmental change describes some effects of past climate variations on physical characteristics in United States coastal regions, and infers some of the changes that may occur due to global warming.
