Abstract
From October, 1956 to March, 1957 the City of Chanute, Kansas, (population 12,000) faced with a critical water shortage, resorted to use of its sewage as a source of water supply. The paper reports on the treatment methods used, some of the problems which arose, and the water quality studies which were made during the period of water recirculation. No adverse effects on the health of the people were noted but much of the population used other sources of drinking water because of the various objectionable characteristics of the public supply.
