Abstract
This report evaluates the Low Temperature Thermal Treatment (LT(sup 3)) system's ability to remove VOC and SVOC compounds from solid wastes. This evaluation is based on treatment performance and cost data from the Superfund Innovative Technology Evaluation (SITE) demonstration and five other case studies. The LT(sup 3) system thermal desorbs organic compounds from contaminated soil without heating the soil to combustion temperatures. The system is divided into three treatment areas; soil treatment, emissions control and condensate treatment. End products include treated soil, fabric filter dust, treated condensate and treated stack gas.
