Abstract
The chlorophyll a and b, carotene, lutein, violaxanthin, and neoxanthin contents in the leaves of plants, subjected during various phases of their growth and development to acid gases such as SO2, NO2, F, HF, and P2O5 in various concentrations, were studied spectrophotometrically and by paper chromatography. Exposure to gases of lawn grasses with different gas resistance caused nonsignificant changes in their pigment contents. Woody plants revealed an inverse relation between the content of pigments and their gas resistance.
