Abstract |
Laboratory studies were conducted on the dispersion of gas driplets of different sizes in turbulent water jets. The main purpose was to determine the turbulent transport coefficient of contaminants suspended in turbulent flows. The experimental results were compared to measurements of diffusion of liquid droplets in air jets as well as to a numerical analysis based on the equations of the particles themselves. Small particles in turbulent flows are seen to have an increasing turbulent transport coefficient with size. |
