Abstract
The paper discusses the requirements for the collection and analysis of ambient particles to satisfy data requirements for source and receptor models as applied to pollution control applications. The paper describes the following analytical procedures as applied to receptor modeling: X-ray fluorescence (XRF), neutron activation (NAA), ion exchange chromatography (IC), X-ray diffraction (XRD), optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) as well as the recent application of gas phase denuders to measure a wide range of pollutants, including nitric acid and ammonia.
