| Abstract |
The document, the 1990 Virginian Province Demonstration Project, in the estuaries of the mid-Atlantic states was the first such demonstration of the Environmental Monitoring and Assessment Program (EMAP). The 1990 project involved 500 sampling visits to 217 estuarine and near shore sites from Cape Cod to the mouth of Chesapeake Bay. The preliminary assessment of the environmental condition of the Virginian Province identified differences in the extent of environmental degradation among specific habitats and classes of estuaries that should be of great interest to resource managers. In addition, the methodology. EMAP is also developing Reports covering other Demonstration Projects for other resource groups and will produce Annual Statistical Summaries from each Resource Group as the program is implemented. |
