Part I: The National Training and Technology Center and selected information sources -- Part II: instructional units -- Part III Abstracted reference materials -- Part IV: reference materials, not abstracted. Contains a variety of selected materials related to wastewater treatment and water quality education and instruction. Part I presents a brief discussion of the activated sludge process in wastewater treatment operations. The overlying premise is that operator training is a vital part of the operation of a wastewater treatment facility. Also included in this section are procedures to illustrate how instructors and training personnel in the water quality control field can locate instructional materials to meet general or specific program requirements. Part II, Instructional Units, are selected portion of existing programs which may be utilized in implementing a training program for the activated sludge process. Each unit has been selected for its representativeness to training level, subject area and instructional approach. A reference to the source where the unit may be found in more detail is included.
