Abstract
Subchronic toxicity procedures are designed to determine the adverse effects that may occur with repeated exposure over a part of the average life span of an experiment animal. The workshop objectives included critically examining the subchronic study as it might be applied to general chemical testing programs and evaluating the effect of variations in study parameters on assessment potential; identifying the deficiencies in the existing scientific knowledge and recommending research to strengthen the testing program; and identifying the related scientific issues to be resolved in future workshops or experimental programs.
