Abstract
Calcium floride, magnesium fluoride, sulfur, silver bromide, silver chloride, and five different particle sizes of diamond powder were studied for use as matrix materials for diffuse reflectance Fourier transform infrared spectrometry. Potassium chloride was used as a reference because of its extensive use as a diffuse reflectance material. The relative diffuse reflectance of each test material was studied and the S/N of the diffuse reflectance spectrum of m-nitroaniline deposited on each test material was calculated and compared. Six micrometer particle size diamond powder was found to be the optimum material of the ones studied.
