Abstract
There is a general consensus that the quality of the Chesapeake Bay aquatic environment is rapidly deteriorating, and that nutrient enrichment is the primary cause. The report was developed to provide readers with an overview of the various technologies that have been used for the control of nutrients from both point (wastewater treatment plants) and nonpoint (stormwater, farm and urban runoff) sources of pollution, and to assist them in the selection or appropriate technology for particular situations. Information on anticipated removal efficiencies, potential installational and operational difficulties, and economics has been provided to facilitate the selection process.
