Abstract |
The purpose of the present investigation is to identify available technologies developed in other industries that may be applicable to lime/limestone scrubber sludge disposal. Much of the technology already developed for phosphate slimes, by-product gypsum, taconite tailings, coal ash, and acid mine drainage sludge is applicable to scrubber sludge disposal. Alternative disposal methods available for scrubber sludge, including deep mine disposal, strip-mined land reclamation, and utilization, possess some degree of potential. Based on presently available data, there are no insurmountable technological problems in disposing of scrubber sludge in an environmentally acceptable manner. |
