Abstract |
Monetary costs were compared for the environmental assessments of an organic chemical using a test microcosm which simulated a real environment and a suite of simple test systems currently used. It was found that the microcosms were cost-competitive with the simple test systems. In addition, it is argued that the differences in the form and quality of information generated from these two types of test systems provides further incentive to use complex, site-specific microcosms in the environmental assessment process. |
