Abstract

A physical and an economic analysis of playa lake resources and modification was conducted to determine the economic feasibility of modifying playa lakes of the Texas High Plains. The objectives of this study were to: (1) determine the number, size, and volume of playa lakes in a 27 county High Plains area, (2) estimate costs of selected alternative lake modifications, (3) estimate potential benefits of modification by type and size of lake and intended use, and (4) estimate net benefits to modification.
