Abstract
This analysis addresses the mitigation of the CO/sub 2/ effect mainly by controlling the CO/sub 2/ content in the atmosphere. It does not deal with alteration of the environment to cope with the CO/sub 2/ effect. The methodology is to first devise a logic for guiding the construction of the mitigating processes and systems. It is then necessary to ascertain the physical, chemical and biological properties required to design the mitigating systems. This is followed by an outline of the criteria for evaluating the process system and scenarios. Descriptions of specific process systems for obtaining the mitigating effects are then presented and preliminary evaluation is given for each of the process systems. In conjunction with the utilization of CO/sub 2/, a preliminary market projection is made to determine the magnitude of the effect of each of the projected uses on the control of CO/sub 2/. Finally a priority listing of recommended research and systems analysis studies are given based on the preliminary evaluations. 21 references, 5 tables.
