Abstract
The report is an updated supplement to PB-279 011 and should be used in conjunction with it. It presents a survey of utility flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems in the U.S., summarizing information contributed by the utility industry, process suppliers, regulatory agencies, and consulting engineering firms. Systems are tabulated alphabetically, by development status (operational, under construction, in planning stages, or terminated operations), by utility company, by process supplier, by process, by waste disposal practice, and by regulatory class. It presents data on system design, fuel sulfur content, operating history, and actual performance. It discusses problems and solutions associated with the boilers and FGD systems. Process flow diagrams and FGD system economic data are appended to the report.
