Abstract |
The report, generated by a computerized data base system, presents a survey of operational and planned domestic utility flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems, operational domestic particle scrubbers, and Japanese coal-fired utility FGD installations. It summarizes information contributed by the utility industry, system and equipment suppliers, systems designers, research organizations, and regulatory agencies. It presents data on system design, fuel characteristics, operating history, and actual performance. Unit by unit dependability parameters are included and problems and solutions associated with the boilers, scrubbers, and FGD systems are discussed. The domestic FGD systems are tabulated alphabetically by development status (operational, under construction, or in the planning stages), utility company, system supplier, process, waste disposal practice, and regulatory class. FGD system economic data, definitions, and a glossary of terms are appended. Current data for domestic FGD systems show 88 systems in operation, 40 systems under construction, and 99 planned systems. Projected 1999 FGD controlled capacity in the U.S. is 108,857 MW. |
