Abstract
Land treatment represents one of the alternatives for management of municipal and industrial wastes. Hazardous waste land treatment systems are intended to degrade, immobilize and/or transform applied wastes into innocuous constituents and to avoid bioaccumulation of hazardous constituents in the food chain. A specialty conference held in Austin, Texas, in April 1985 represented a comprehensive attempt to critically examine the current state-of-knowledge with regard to land treatment of hazardous wastes.
