Abstract
The paper discusses the EPA's new clean air technologies and opportunities for cooperative development. New clean air technologies for commercial application have recently been developed and patented by EPA/AEERL. These include: (1) furnace sorbent injection for dioxin/furan control (SICORE), (2) combined sulfur dioxide (SO2) and particulate matter (PM) control (E-SOx), (3) advanced silicate injection for SO2 control (ADVACATE), and (4) advanced fine PM controls--advanced electrostatic precipitation (SUPER ESP), electrostatically stimulated fabric filtration (ESFF), retrofit electrostatic filtration (REF), and reentrainment suppressor. New areas of research are also discussed for which EPA/AEERL would be interested in a CRD program, including combined sulfur oxide (SOx)/nitrogen oxide (NOx) control, toxic metals control, chlorinated waste destruction, and fine PM control.
