Abstract
A survey of microwave ovens was conducted to identify those makes and models which leak excessively a nd to have the manufacturers of those ovens exhibiting excessive leakage initiate appropriate corrective action. Over 4000 ovens, consisting of approximately 42 models produced by foreign and domestic manufacturers, were surveyed. As a result of the survey, seven manufacturers have agreed to implement corrective action programs to reduce the microwave radiation leakage from an estimated 10,000 ovens of the more than 100,000 ovens now in use.
