Abstract
The report describes the EPA/IERL-RTP pilot scale electrostatic precipitator, a research device used for testing and verifying new precipitator concepts and models of precipitator operation. It describes the basic capabilities of the precipitator, and contains measurements of precipitator operating characteristics which were obtained in the first months of investigation. The precipitator performed to its design specifications in initial tests, and its utility as a research tool was quickly established. Several proposed experiments which will be performed on the precipitator are described.
