Abstract
Research projects and investigations were reported which focused upon defining appropriate technologies for alleviating water quality problems from irrigated agriculture. The emphasis was on better water management practices. Case studies provided insights as to how these technologies might be implemented. Legal approaches and socio-economic considerations that must be taken into account in arriving at alternatives for implementing programs of irrigation return flow quality management were presented. The major objectives of the conference were to: (1) Present the results of recent research pertinent to the subject; (2) integrate the research results into an interdisciplinary approach to solving the problems; and (3) provide a forum for presenting and discussing the alternatives in implementing irrigation return flow quality management and/or control.
