| Abstract |
Surrounded by an ocean, the Hawaiian Islands are limited in their natural freshwater resources. The studies and current practice utilizing land treatment and reuse of sewage effluents as irrigation water in Hawaii are summarized and the probable impact on irrigation practices and attendant waste water treatment and monitoring are discussed. Such practices could easily serve as a model for other areas in the nation that face future water shortages and increased water demand. |
