Abstract |
Multispectral remote sensing data were collected along the U.S. shoreline of Lake Ontario, under the sponsorship of the Environmental Protection Agency, as part of the International Field Year on the Great Lakes (IFYGL) program in Lake Ontario. Data were processed to show the distribution of Cladophora in the nearshore zone and to estimate the standing crop. Additionally, thermal data in the study area were displayed. The results show an extensive growth and development of Cladophora in the study area. Approximately 66% of the nearshores zone in the western portion of the lake and 79% in the eastern portion, is covered by Cladophora. Several major and minor thermal features and thermal discharges were evident at several locations along the U.S. shoreline. |
